Data-Centric Security Service

Project Type

Project Replace

Objective

The Data-Centric Security Service (DCSS) project would implement data-centric safeguards in the SECRET domain that would make the balance between information sharing and protection more effective and efficient. Implementation of DCSS would significantly reduce the requirement for the creation of SECRET networks; it would enable interoperability between Joint services and between the CAF and Other Government Departments (OGD), Allies and coalition forces. Investment in the DCSS project would enable more effective use of current fortress style network security and develop efficiency and better sustainment in lifecycle maintenance and management of the CAF’s secret networks.

Requirements

DND and the CAF have a business need to share and safeguard information across caveats within the SECRET domain. The lack of internal security safeguards able to exercise security control at the data access point is leaving networks vulnerable to trusted insider threats, and is leading to the creation of multiple SECRET networks to address caveats requirement for information compartmentalization. The DCSS investment will address this shortcoming by delivering an internal security safeguard that exercises security control at the data access point.
