Objective
The Maritime Satellite Communication Upgrade project was established to transition the Royal Canadian Navy from a single-source, non-assured access, commercial satellite service to a combination of assured United States government owned and operated satellite services with commercial alternatives.
Requirements
The Maritime Satellite Communication Upgrade project will procure, install and confirm the functionality of multi-band satellite communications systems for the Royal Canadian Navy. The multi-band satellite communications systems will be installed in the twelve Halifax Class, the twelve Kingston Class, and are planned to be installed on the Joint Support Ships.
A contract for this project was awarded to Harris Corporation in 2016. The acquisition value of this project is $32.5 million.
