Objective

To upgrade Communications Navigation Surveillance Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) avionics systems in a number of Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) fleets to allow operations in future domestic and international airspace.

Requirements

With impending changes to domestic and international airspace rules, many aircraft fleets and ground systems require numerous CNS/ATM upgrades. These upgrades consist of Performance Based Navigation certified GPS, Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast datalinks, and Mode S transponders to operate in civilian controlled airspace; and Identification Friend or Foe Mode 5 transponders to participate in coalition operations.
