No matter how tough it is out there, you guys never give up. You also put your lives on the line and risk the chance of not being able to see family or friends ever again. I don't think I can ever do that. I know it can be difficult to be in the army since you have to make sacrifices and might have some restless nights. And I admire how courageous and dedicated you are to protect our home country; Canada. Thank you for your works and services.
I was given the task of writing a letter to a single veteran. However, as I sat down to write down my thoughts, it struck me as unfair to focus my gratitude on just one individual when each and every one of you has devoted your sweat, your tears, and in many cases, your lives to serve and protect this land we now have the privilege to call home. The peace and success that define modern-day Canada exist because of the collective sacrifices made by countless veterans—men and women whose courage, perseverance, and unwavering dedication have shaped the nation we know today. I often reflect on how different my life might be if Canada were not the strong and free country it is; a reality made possible not by my actions, but by the selflessness and bravery of those who have served before me. Words alone cannot express the gratitude I have, but I hope that through this letter, you feel the appreciation and respect I hold for you and your fellow veterans. Thank you, not just today, but every day, for your enduring service and the legacy you have left for generations to come. -Alyssa
