Dear Canadian military members and veterans, I am 11 and I am in gr 6 and living in AB. I am writing this letter to wish you a happy holiday. You deserve to relax. You have saved our lives and saved this country. You helped a lot of people to make sure people dont hurt us from oceans, to land, sky, and stop the bad guys. You made the right choice as a lot of us are not brave and scared. We don't have enough to join so thank you for saving us. You deserve a great holiday because we love you. You maybe had saved my grandpa or dad or mom just remember we all trust you. Thank you for all the sacrifices you make for us, your life, your family, your loved ones. You leave them just to save us and your loved ones so thank you for taking your time to relax and have a happy holiday during this time. You guys are still saving our country, guarding it and making sure no people harm us at all. We feel your pain from your loved ones. I hope you can find peace and that God keeps you safe!

TWAS THE DAWN CHRISTMAS MORNING
Poem by lan Coate
'Twas the dawn Christmas morning and a soldier was sad;
He was far from his family in a nation gone bad.
He thought of his children, all tucked up in bed
He thought of his wife and a tear he did shed.
'Is this crap all worth it?' he said to his mate,
' wanna go home, not sit here and wait.'
His mate thought for a bit, then said with a smile:
'It's the reason we're here that makes this worthwhile.
"We're tired and we're cramped in this pit in the ground
So our families are safe' and free all year round.
"We're doing our bit, like those in the past,
So peace has a chance and freedom can last.'
The soldier nodded his head - this year had been tough;
He'd seen warfare and famine and nastier stuff.
He thought of his children and thought of his wife
And was thankful they had such a fortunate life.
Seeing,some shepherds protecting their herds,
He suddenly smiled and whispered the words:
Merry Christmas. my family - I really miss you,
But my presence right here is my present to you.'
*Thinking of you all and Thank you*

Dear Members of the armed forces.
First i want to say thank you for serving our country. I had the honour to meet many veteran's while attending various November 11th services, over the years. I totally admire what they did and what you are doing. Both my Grandfathers served in the WW1, both struggled with PTSD after seeing and having to do what they did. I also had uncles that served in WW2, and 3 members of my family have and are serving in the RCMP today. Service to our community and country has always been important to us. So i truly appreciate what you are doing. For those that have been injured please know you are all in my prayers. To those that have gone on before us may they rest in peace.
Merry Christmas to all of you both at home and abroad. May God watch over you.
All the very best for a peaceful world in 2025.

Greetings from Ottawa. Weather here is cold and ugly, we had two days of rain followed now by below freezing ... oh, but sunny... go figure, tonight we get some more snow to cover the icy walkways.
Thank you for your service, I know it's such a cliche but it can't be over used to say how I appreciate the sacrifices you have made to protect us all. We watch the news nightly and are well aware of activities going on around the world, we follow our Canadian involvement internationally and we know you are out there ... somewhere, far from home and family, keeping us safe.
So, keep your head down, keep your eyes open and work that patience button. Soon you will be back home with friends and family and what you are going through now will all be just a memory.
Tom - 12/12/2024
